Privacy Policy
Version 2026-08-18 · Effective 18 August 2026
1. Introduction
BetterButter is operated by SoelTech Solutions Inc. ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect information in relation to the BetterButter mobile and web application (the "Service").
BetterButter is a practice tool. You place or receive simulated phone calls with an AI character, and we analyse how the call went so you can improve. Accounts are personal: unlike some of our other products, nothing you create here is visible to an employer or any other organisation unless you choose to share it yourself.

2. Information We Collect
a) Information you provide.
Your name and email address when you create an account. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from them. We never receive your password.
b) Call content. This one deserves a plain explanation.
Your call audio is not recorded or stored. While a practice call is running, your microphone audio is streamed to our servers and on to our AI provider so the character can respond to you in real time. It is processed as it passes through and is not written to disk or kept afterwards.
Transcripts and reports are stored. A written transcript of the call, and the report we generate from it (scores, coverage, moments, and the suggested next rep) are saved to your account so you can review them later.
c) Information collected automatically.
Usage data such as which scenarios you practise, call length and frequency. Device information including a push notification token, which is how we ring your phone and tell you a report is ready.
d) Payment information. Purchases are handled by Stripe. We do not collect, see or store your card details. We store a Stripe customer reference and your plan.
3. How We Use Your Information
To run the Service: to hold the call, produce your report, apply your plan's limits, and ring your phone when you have scheduled a call.
To maintain and improve the Service: we monitor performance, troubleshoot failures, and measure what a call costs us to run.
To communicate with you: service announcements, verification and password emails, and notifications you have enabled.
4. AI Processing
The Service is built on third-party AI models, currently Google's Gemini models via Google Cloud. Your call audio is sent to Google so the character can hear and answer you, and your transcript is sent so a report can be generated. Google processes this on our behalf as a service provider.
We do not use your calls, transcripts or reports to train AI models, ours or anyone else's.
Reports are generated by an AI model. They are an opinion produced by software, not professional advice, and they can be wrong. They are deliberately blunt because flattery would make the product useless, but you should treat them as practice feedback rather than fact.
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information.
Service providers. Google Cloud and Firebase (hosting, database, AI processing, push delivery), Google Workspace (sending our email), Stripe (payments), and Apple (push delivery to iPhones). They are contractually limited to acting on our instructions.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and features get used. It sets cookies and records your approximate location from your IP address, your browser and device type, and the pages you open. When you are signed in we attach your account id, which is a random string that means nothing outside this service. We never send your name, email, phone number, call audio or transcripts to Google Analytics. You can block it with any ad blocker or by turning off cookies, and nothing on the site will stop working.
Legal reasons. Where we believe disclosure is required to comply with law or legal process, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, property or safety of SoelTech Solutions Inc., our users, or the public.
Reports you choose to share. You can create a link to a read-only copy of one call report and send it to someone, either by giving us their email address or by copying the link and pasting it yourself. This never happens unless you do it, one report at a time. What travels is the score, the coverage, the moments and the next-rep line. The full transcript is included only if you tick the box for it, and that box is off by default. Anyone holding the link can read it without an account, so treat a shared link as public. Links stop working after 30 days, you can withdraw one at any time from the report page, and deleting your account deletes every link you have created.
We never share your calls, transcripts or reports with an employer, an organisation or another user on our own initiative. The only way any of it reaches someone else is if you send it to them.
6. Data Security
We use encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, and access to your data is restricted to your own account. No security system is impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
Call audio is not retained at all, as described above. Transcripts and reports are kept for as long as your account exists, so you can track progress over time, and are deleted when you delete your account.
We may retain records of completed payments where we are legally required to, for example for tax purposes, after an account is deleted.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Subject to your local law, you may have the right to:
Access the personal information we hold about you. Correct information that is inaccurate. You can change your name in the app at any time. Delete your personal information.
Deletion is built in and immediate. Profile, then Delete account, on the web or in the app. It permanently removes your account, transcripts and reports, and cancels any active subscription so you are not billed again. There is no undo and we cannot recover it afterwards.
Withdrawing your consent. Before your first practice call we ask you to agree, explicitly, to your speech being processed as described in section 4. That consent is what the Service runs on, so withdrawing it means no further calls can be made. You can withdraw it at any time by deleting your account, which also removes every transcript and report we hold, or by writing to us at the address below if you want the consent withdrawn without the account removed. There is no penalty for either, and we do not ask why.
For anything else, contact privacy@betterbutter.app. We may need to verify your identity first.
9. International Data Transfers
The Service is operated in Canada and the United States. If you are elsewhere, your information will be transferred to, stored and processed in those countries.
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. If the changes are material we will notify you by email or through the Service.
